Congregation Darchei Noam, a vibrant and inclusive Reconstructionist synagogue in Toronto, is seeking a Director of Multigenerational Engagement to lead innovative programming that fosters meaningful connections across all ages. This role integrates educational leadership, ritual coordination, musical contributions, and community engagement, with a focus on child and family experiences. As a key member of Darchei Noam’s leadership team, you will collaborate with clergy and staff to create welcoming, inspiring, and engaging Jewish experiences that deepen participation in Jewish life.


Key Accountabilities:


Child & Family Engagement

● Develop and oversee programming for children, families, Hebrew School, B’mitzvah students, and teens.

○ Providing educational and administrative support for these programs, ensuring all materials and details are organized.
○ Maintaining regular and timely communication with all members.
○ Coordinating B’mitzvah services and celebrations, and tutoring B’mitzvah students.

● Organize Shabbat, holiday, and community-wide programs, including parallel parent learning opportunities.
● Provide educational and administrative support, ensuring smooth program execution.
● Foster relationships among families and integrate new members into the community.
● Coordinate and tutor B’mitzvah students, ensuring a meaningful and personalized journey.
● Collaborate on curriculum development with clergy and education leadership.
● Recruit, support, and train educators, volunteers, and lay leaders.
Shabbat & Holiday Programming
● Plan and coordinate multigenerational Shabbat and holiday experiences.
● Assign Torah/Haftarah readers, divrei Torah presenters, and service participants.
● Ensure inclusive and accessible ritual elements for a diverse congregation.
● Support Shabbat School participants in service integration.


Musical & Spiritual Leadership


● Co-lead services with clergy, incorporating musical elements.
● Contribute to High Holiday services with a focus on family engagement.
● Support musical leadership for Shabbat, Holiday, B’mitzvah and festival services.


Who You Are


● Passion for creating inclusive and engaging Jewish Reconstructionist experiences.
● Experience in Jewish education, synagogue leadership, or related fields.
● Skilled in leading Jewish prayer services with musical excellence.
● Strong organizational and administrative skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
● Well versed in Torah and Haftarah reading, Jewish prayer services, and ritual practices.
● Ability to connect with diverse age groups, from young learners to adults.
● Musical ability and proficiency in Hebrew is essential
● Degree in Jewish education or a related field, or equivalent experience required; Rabbinical or Cantorial ordination preferred.
