Aging Gracefully

November 15 @ 1:30 pm

Aging Gracefully – a discussion about thriving as we get older

If you are interested in guidance that will help you pursue a good life as you age, please join us for a discussion on Sunday, November 15 at 1:30PM. The challenges we face as we age can creep up on us or take us by surprise, and require us to change the way we approach life as adults. Our presenter, Rabbi Rena Arshinoff, has extensive experience working as a rabbi and chaplain at Baycrest and elsewhere in the hospital & health care industry, providing pastoral care and counseling to seniors and their families and friends. Rabbi Arshinoff will offer some ways to think about our approach to aging gracefully and joyfully. Topics to be covered include the following:

· Finding a path to acceptance of the limitations and health challenges that come with aging

· Learning to accept help, and helping others who you are caring for to accept the help that they need

· How to approach life and find joy while increasingly losing family and friends as well as other losses (such as hearing, vision, mobility, ability to drive a car, or activities that can no longer be enjoyed).

· Bikur cholim – visiting the sick. What is it like to be on the other side, specifically, the one receiving the visits.

· Planning for the present and the future
