In an illustrated talk, David will explore the stories behind his photographs of historical synagogues, cemeteries, and Jewish neighbourhoods, made on annual trips between 2007 and 2016 to Poland, western Ukraine, Lithuania, and Latvia. Join us for a memorable night of storytelling and community on Sunday, November 30 at 7:30 p.m. (Doors open at 6:30 p.m.) What would you do if—12 years after losing someone you love—you discovered they had documented every moment of your life… in triplicate? And does it count as hoarding if the thing being hoarded is memories? Award-winning playwright and veteran storyteller Ronit Rubinstein (Best of Fringe 2025, with encore performances at the Meridian Arts Centre) brings Things My Dad Kept to Congregation Darchei Noam. This comedic and deeply moving solo show explores grief, love, and the surprising ways we stay connected. Ronit weaves the discovery of her father’s meticulously preserved archive together with funny, tender stories about their relationship and a powerful account of how he and his family survived the Holocaust. Pins and Needles is reaching out to let you know that we are always very happy to welcome new members to our group. This month, we will meet on Tuesday, December 2, in the shul library from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and on Zoom on the third Tuesday of the month (December 16th). We knit, crochet, and socialize. We would love to have other crafters join us to showcase their work and share tips and stories. We would also like to inform you that we are currently in need of yarn donations. Especially helpful are donations of blanket-weight yarn and multiple balls of the same weight or colour. If you’re doing some spring cleaning and have yarn you’re no longer using, we’d be grateful if you’d consider donating it to us. Please contact nancy@kosiner.com if you have any questions.

📅 Tuesday, December 16th ⏰ 7:00 p.m.📍Darchei Noam Gather around the chanukiah as we light the third candle together in a memorial Chanukkah service, holding close those whose lives have been touched by recent events.​ Guests are invited to bring their own chanukiyot to light alongside the communal candles, adding their own flames of memory, resilience, and hope.​ Light refreshments will be served as the glow of the flames quietly unites us in this shared gathering of light and community.
