Dr. Pamela Roy (she/her) is a heart-centered leader who lives her life in service, in connection, and in advocacy building the next generation of leaders. Spanning two decades in higher education leadership and non-profit management, she has been championing student success in the fields of experiential education, intercultural teaching and learning, and student services. She has over 10 years of experience in teacher and faculty development, including extensive experience in professional roles, internationally. Additionally, she has also designed curriculum and led short-term exchange programs for students, faculty, and staff to South Africa, Rwanda, New Zealand, and Canada. Pamela has served in several Jewish educator roles in recent years, such as facilitator for the UJA Federation of Greater Toronto’s Jewish Teen Board, Regional Mentor for NFTY, Central Canada, teacher for the inaugural Teen Leadership Development Program at Congregation Darchei Noam, and presently as Principal of the Shabbat School. She is excited to mentor teachers and teaching assistants, provide leadership to the School, supporting Jewish life in Canada so together we can cultivate more equitable, healthier, and resilient young people and Jewish communities together.

Sharoni Sibony (she/her) is an educator, artist, creative facilitator, and Jewish community organizer. She has been a lecturer and tour guide for over 15 years in various venues across the Toronto community and beyond, and has worked and volunteered in Jewish adult educational programming. Following her fellowship in the ATIQ: Jewish Makers’ Kollel in 2021, she trained as a Creative Facilitator with the Jewish Studio Project out of Berkeley, CA. At Darchei Noam, she serves as the B’Mitzvah teacher in Shabbat School, where she gets to support students through their B’Mitzvah process and guide them toward an adult Jewish life built on meaning and intention.
Josh Tolkin (he/him) serves as the Assistant Director at URJ Camp George. He has spent the past three years working professionally in the Jewish community, but his connection to Jewish camp and the URJ movement goes back much further. Camp George has been a huge part of his life where he has spent every summer for the past 18 years, growing from a camper into a member of the camp leadership team. Outside of camp, Josh loves to rock climb, spend time outdoors, try new things, and find any excuse for an adventure! He loves bringing people together through fun, shared experiences and creating moments that people can learn from, laugh about, and remember. He believes some of the best learning and strongest connections come from experiencing things together and is excited to bring that energy, love for Jewish community, and passion for creating meaningful experiences to Shabbat School.

Alex Shayer (he/him) is a high school teacher. He has been living in Canada for the past 25 years after moving to Toronto from Israel. Over the years, Canada has become an important part of his life, while his Israeli background and Jewish heritage continue to be an important part of who he is. He truly enjoys working with young people and helping them learn, grow, and develop confidence. He believes that education is not only about academics, but also about creating meaningful connections and helping students feel supported and valued. He is also a proud father to a son who is currently in Grade 10. Being a parent has given him an even deeper appreciation for the experiences, challenges, and opportunities that young people face as they grow up. It has also reminded him of the importance of creating positive environments where children can feel comfortable being themselves. Outside of work and family, he enjoys staying active. Swimming and fitness are an important part of his life. Alex also enjoys travelling, discovering new places, and spending time with family and friends.
Eva Guterman (she/her) attended Bialik Hebrew Day School and is presently a Grade 12 student at TanenbaumCHAT. She has been a part of the Darchei Noam community her entire life, volunteered in various events and committees, and has served as an assistant in the Shabbat School. Outside of Darchei Noam, she has taught dance to young children which has helped her hone patience, exercise creativity, and learn skills on how to keep them excited and engaged. This past summer, she served as a camp counselor at Camp Tamakwa where she confirmed her love for teaching and learning. She finds joy in helping children feel comfortable, have fun, and be excited to learn, and is looking forward to bringing that same energy into the classroom whether through games or stories so they feel welcomed and excited every week.

Ashley Isenberg (she/her) is a mom who enjoys baking, word puzzles, singing, being outdoors and spending time with family. In her Jewish studies, she has enjoyed learning Torah trope and diving deeper in communal Torah studies. As an educator, she loves finding creative crafts and multicultural recipes for the holidays. She has been an active member of the Darchei Noam community for 4 years. Ashley is inspired by the awe of children, creating sparks, helping families make Jewish friends, and find a love of being together. She hopes to learn alongside the community, and become reinspired by little lenses, as we explore the beauty of our heritage, and the importance each of us has in our community.
