Introducing Social Justice Scholar-in-Residence, 2026–27
The Social Justice Advocacy Committee (SJAC) is delighted to announce our Social Justice Scholar-in-Residence for the coming year, Jodi Block. Jodi’s early interest in social justice, sparked by the Soviet Jewry movement, led her to study Russian and work with Jewish communities overseas. After relocating to Toronto, she found her calling at JIAS Toronto, a community- and government-funded organization with the mission to welcome and support immigrants and refugees. Jodi's work at JIAS Toronto has spanned over 20 years and various aspects of the agency's work, including community connections, refugee sponsorship, volunteerism, and public education. Jodi is grateful to live in Toronto and to be part of a vibrant, diverse, and engaged Jewish community. As our Scholar, she will deliver her first d’var Torah on Oct. 31. Details to follow.
